Richardson Cooling Packages

Heat Exchangers, Copper and Brass Radiators

Serpentine Louvered Fin Configurations - Most economical and common. Very good when space constraints are limited. Not recommended for high debris applications.

Flat Fin Non-Louvered – More expensive and durable than the serpentine configurations. Works well in high vibration applications and harsh environments. The staggered tube configurations function well with light to medium debris. Inline configurations are the best for high debris application and are generally larger than the other configurations.

Aluminum Radiators

Aluminum Radiator / Plastic Tanks - Economical for high volume runs. Not recommended for industrial applications. Fins tend to be easily damaged, clog, and special anti-freeze must be used and maintained to prevent erosion of the radiator tubes.

Aluminum Radiator / Fabricated Tanks - These types of radiators can be used in an industrial environment when constructed similar to charge air cooler configurations. This configuration tends to be more expensive, but ideal for lower volume production.

Charge Air Coolers

Richardson Cooling Packages offers 2 configurations of Charge Air Coolers (CAC) for use in side by side and front to back configurations. This product line is a must for the new emissions requirements being implemented over the course of the next couple of years.

Tube and Fin –Tube and Fin construction is the most economical and offers the best air side pressure drop. This product is limited by the extruded tube sizes offered.

Plate and Bar – Ideal for small volume runs. A bit more expensive and durable than the tube and fin configurations. Great for high vibration applications.

Oil Coolers

Richardson Cooling Packages offers many different custom oil cooler packages, most of which are custom designed into our complete cooling packages. Our brazed oil cooler line consists of tube and fin, plate and bar, and stacked plate oil coolers.

Hoses, Molded Rubber Hoses

Richardson Cooling Packages designs and manufactures all of our own molded air intake hoses and radiator hoses. All of our hoses are produced to SAE specifications and most of our lower radiator hoses are equipped with a stainless steel spring to prevent failure on the inlet side of the water pump.

All of our designs are created in both three dimensional models and two dimensional drawings to aid in the development process and verify customer requirements.

Spooled Hose

We offer a complete line of spooled hose manufactured by Thermoid, which meets or exceeds SAE specifications. Richardson Cooling Packages realized that many of our customers were purchasing their spooled hose from local parts stores and local sales representatives. Our objective is to eliminate all of the middle men and extra costs involved in this distribution process. Our warehouse stocks many of the standard hoses in 25 ft to 250 ft spools which can be shipped within one day. If customers are buying cooling packages, the hose can be added to their existing LTL orders with minimal shipping expense. We carry the following types of hoses in all of the standard sizes.

  • Injection Hose
  • Fuel Line Hose
  • Heater Hose
  • Radiator Overflow Hose
  • Vacuum Hose

Coolant Recovery Bottles

We offer several different universal coolant recovery bottles for both atmospheric and pressurized systems. Our standard bottles included the mounting brackets, cap, and clamps required for installation and operation.

Atmospheric Coolant Recovery Bottles

The atmospheric bottle is the most common and oldest form of bottle. This bottle provides limited deaeration and a simple solution to prevent the coolant from venting directly into the environment. Richardson Cooling Packages offers two standard sizes: 1 liter and 2 liter.

Steel Pressurized Coolant Recovery Bottles

Steel overflow bottles are the simplest solution when a pressurized degas system is required. They tend to be a bit more expensive, however they do not require the tooling investment that the plastic version does. Recommended for heavy duty high vibration applications.

Plastic Pressurized Coolant Recovery Bottles

This type of overflow bottle is the most economical bottle for pressurized systems. However the tooling charges for the molds run from $15,000 to $30,000. This bottle should only be considered in very high volume applications. Our Engineering department can design these bottles in many different configurations in order to satisfy the customers space requirements and the engine manufacturer's degas specifications.

Protective Guards

Richardson Cooling Packages designs and produces a full line of radiator core guards used to prevent damage to the front of the radiator core, fan guards used to protect foreign objects from coming into contact with the fan, and belt guards. Specialty guards can be developed upon request.

The guarding configurations can also be designed to reduce or eliminate recirculation of the cooling air.

Core Guards

Mounted to the front of the radiator. Protects the radiator form any sort of debris.

Fan Guards

Protects the fan blade system. Our fan guards meet CEO and UL CAE saftey specs. 1 and 2 piece designs or custom designs available.
