Underway Stabilization for Boats up to 26 Feet

Seakeeper Ride 450 is a Vessel Attitude Control System for boats up to 26 ft. Two controllers mounted on the transom eliminate up to 70% of underway pitch and roll, for more comfort, control and confidence on the water. It is the smallest system in the Seakeeper Ride range, bringing pitch and roll control to a wide range of smaller vessels from 19 to 26 feet in length.

How it works. The controllers are mounted to the transom below the waterline. Seakeeper's proprietary inertial sensing hardware and software track how the boat is behaving in all three axes, pitch, roll and yaw, and command the rotary blades to deploy, creating lift at the transom. The blades deploy at up to 300 mm per second and make 100 adjustments every second, so the system counters wave motion significantly faster than conventional trim tabs, before it is felt on board.

Fully automatic. There are no buttons to push and no adjustments to make: turn the key and the system goes to work. Seakeeper's Trim Command Curve sets the boat to its optimal running angle at any speed, automatic list control keeps the deck level as weight moves around the boat, the heeling angle is adjusted automatically in turns, and a faster hole shot gets the boat on plane sooner. The drivetrain is sealed in a dry, greased environment with no mechanical exposure to salt water.

Installation and power. Seakeeper Ride fits most transoms, on new boats and refits alike, on fiberglass and aluminum monohulls, stepped or non-stepped. The Seakeeper Ride 450 system comprises port and starboard 450 mm controllers, a software module and a distribution module. It is operated from a compatible multifunction display on an NMEA 2000 network with GPS, and a physical keypad is available as an option. Seakeeper gives a power draw of 12 V 4-6 A or 24 V 2-3 A at cruising speeds.

Where it works. Seakeeper Ride works underway, not at rest: it has trim authority from 10 mph, and full stabilization benefits begin at around 20-25 mph. Seakeeper does not design or recommend it for vessels capable of 80 mph or more. It carries Seakeeper's 24-month limited warranty from delivery, which excludes commercial use.
